WATSON, Jr., Avery D. Age 82 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday,
May 9, 2007 at Kettering Medical Center. He was born May 16, 1924 in Dayton the
son of the late Avery D. Sr. & Florence M. (Ferguson) Watson.
A
graduate of Roosevelt High School Class of 1942, Houghton College, and graduate
work at the University of Dayton and the University of Cincinnati. A retired
engineer with the U.S. Government working for AMF, the Dept. of Agricultural
FSA, past president of the Montgomery County Children's Service Board, a member
of Alpha Phi Alpha, a life long member of the McKinley United Methodist Church
where he served as the Sunday School Superintendant for 40 years.
Preceded in death by his wife Norma B. Watson in 1998. Survivors
include 2 sons Avery D. Watson III and wife Monica of St. Louis, MO, Branner
Mark Watson and wife Tia of Cincinnati, his daughter Madelaine J. Watson of
Dayton, a sister Audrey Lee Williams of Boston, MA, 5 grandchildren Rachel
Watson, Nathan Watson, Daniel James Watson, Jonathan Watson, and Daniel Elisha
Watson, his nephew Dr. George K. Branner and wife Martha of CA, as well as many
friends.
Funerals services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at
11:00 a.m. at the McKinley United Methodist Church, 196 Hawthorn St., Dayton.
Dr. Lois Fortson officiating. Burial Evergreen Cemetery. The family will
receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service AT THE CHURCH. In
lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to acquire audio books at
the Dayton Metro Library in his memory. Arrangements entrusted to the SWART
FUNERAL HOME, W. Carrollton.
